Salix

About Salix:

Like the Carbon Trust, Salix is an independent organisation set up by the government. It receives public funding through the Carbon Trust and works across the public sector helping schools, hospitals and many others to invest in energy efficient technologies.

Launched in 2004, Salix has assisted 250 projects with funding in its first wave which closed in July 2009.

About the funding:

Salix works across the public sector, offering interest free conditional grants.

Loans are arranged in the form of matched funding and set into a fund pot together with your investment. All energy savings are paid into this pot until the original investment is repaid over a period of up to five years. Once the loan is repaid, the savings continue to benefit your organisation but no longer need to be paid into the pot.
